An Actual Letter Sent to the President, VP, Senators, and Representatives
This letter was written in May, 2011. It was sent to the House and Senate, George Bush, the President at the time, as well as several White House Admin. members, websites, etc. It is STILL valid as the battle of words between Pro-War and Anti-War still rages on. It is my belief that Bush, Cheney, Rove and dozens of members in his circle should be arrested for war crimes like torture, murder, racketeering, and those are just a few. Bush and Cheney, with their no bid contracts to companies they have a hand in, paving the way to raking in millions for both of them, as well as many from their administration. All this money started coming in faster than you can shoot a dear, old friend in the face with buck shot. Maybe it's time to resend this letter to a new batch of politicians, sheriffs, and Dog the Bounty Hunter. Here is the letter from way back when...
Dear Mr. President,
Dear Mr. President,
I constantly hear the extreme right political mouths like Rush and Hannity, calling people who ask questions about the war 'anti-American', 'anti-troops' and 'pro-terrorist'. They say that unless you 100% agreed with Bush and supported every troop increase and every step of every battle in the 'war on terror' then you were nothing more than a traitor. You are guilty of trying to bring shame to America, and you take pride in watching our men and women die in service to their country. Amazing!
I, for one, have so much pride in our troops and their families, that I thank every single one of them that I see for their service. I know it's just words, but if they could only feel how sincere I am. How, when I say thank you, I'm trying to honor them and their families who endure long periods of dread and who have to work twice as hard to get by. I'm trying to thank them and all those who came before them to fight and die in the name of our freedom.
Right and left now agree that this war was bungled. In admitting those mistakes, we have to be willing to admit that those mistakes have cost many young American's their lives. Bush said that if more troops were needed, or a change in plans was ever required, that the generals in charge of the war in Iraq would tell him, and he would give them what they needed. Well for years they TOLD him that it wasn't working, and he, 'The Decider', decided that what they needed was early retirement or a desk job in the States.
He said he believed God was guiding him in his decisions, but didn't God also give him the generals, the staff, and the intelligence to help point the way? God doesn't give direction with fanfare, and massive displays. He does what he has always done. He gives us the tools and the knowledge and expects us to work our problems out.
Why would a man who tried so hard to avoid committing himself to serving our nation in his younger years, feel he knows everything there is to know about the military, and make so many decisions with the smallest degree of qualified input possible? It is then, when you ask those very questions, that you have become an alleged enemy of the country you love so much.
It's funny but 230 years ago, questions like these about the direction and principals of our leaders and government were the utmost in patriotism. Imagine if years ago no one had dared to stand up and demand change from the leaders of the church and government in England. What if they had just thought it best to shut up and wait for time to hopefully bring about religious freedom and fair taxation? We stood up for what was right then, and through the polarization of politics, we can't even agree on what is right and wrong today.
We have somehow become a silent nation. One that sits back and watches politicians on both sides of the aisle debate, not for we the people, but for the special interest and corporate giant lobbyists who spend millions each year lining the pockets of the less than 800 people who we trust to represent us.
Politicians will try to impeach a President for sexual acts while in office, but they refuse to impeach a President that lied to the Nation he swore to protect and defend. A President who has blood on his hands from allowing torture, and committing war crimes. We are stuck in Iraq, while Iran sends people over the border to kill our troops as the clock ticks away in some nuclear refinement center there.
I think we all need to remember who is getting hurt here. It's the men and women in our military. It kills me to see the families struggle as Mom or Dad faces danger at every turn, while our government offers no bid contracts to some of it closest big business cronies to provide them with people that do the same job as our loyal troops, but make 8 to 15 times more money.
These war time profiteers do it all, from cleaning bathrooms, to cooking, to carrying assault rifles and deciding who is a target, and who is a citizen. At times the insurgents might be tipped on the Wal-Mart Commando's hand. This of course while a military sniper's wife worries backoff that one of our McSnipers is lying in wait, when the sun reflects off the expensive gold watch on his wrist. This of course while a military sniper's wife worries back home about how she can feed their 2 kids AND heat their home this week.
Somewhere out in the Pacific, there's a ship that hauls vegetables, bananas, dry goods and coffee. If I could scrape a few layers of paint off, and get down to the old battleship grey; I just might see the name of the old iron horse. The USS Windsor. In World War II, a dark, curly haired young man, wiped the sweat off his brow while working in the engine room to try and push the Windsor to the next ship in our fleet that needed repairs, or to the next beach that needed soldiers.
That was my Dad. He brought needed items for repair so ships could keep moving through the dark Pacific waters. He brought troops where they were needed, and tried not to look any of them in the eye for too long because their faces would burn into his memory. He's still bothered by the question that goes with those unnamed faces. "Did he make it? How about that one?" "Did he get home?" "Did his Mom ever see him again?" He'll never know, and though he doesn't mention it, I know those faces haunt him every day.
I can never express the pride I feel for him. I thank God everyday that he returned home, and I pray that every soldier’s family gets that same gift, though I know that there are thousands of families that are left with nothing but a folded flag, or a severe and permanent injury that will get second rate care from a poorly funded VA.
We MUST let the law deal with Bush, Cheney, and the rest of the previous administration who broke the law and are guilty of war crimes against humanity. WE, the United States of America, watched as our alleged leader stood up in front of the rest of the world, and proclaimed that WE, but no one else, were allowed to torture prisoners, or even those held without charges, in order to wipe out terrorism. Doesn't torture, false imprisonment, and even murder put us on the exact same level as the terrorists we were trying to defeat?
It is time to open investigations and file charges against Bush and dozens of others from his administration. This is too important to just sweep under the rug and hope that history forgives us for not bringing these terrible people to justice. Bush does not belong on his ranch in Texas living the good life! He belongs in jail for the remaining years of his life! We need to bring the Bush Administration to justice immediately, so Americans can to heal the wounds from their injustice. Then, and only then, will we be able to diminish the hatred of America that continues around the world.
Thank you for your time, and God Bless America and all she stands for,
Jason Place
